The Bluebird is a Ferring institution, though word has spread and people come from far afield for the delicious food right on the beach.

Always open for breakfast and lunch from 8am. In the summer, the cafe is open later and often serves freshly made pizzas in addition to the usual menu. Or you can just enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine and watch the sea.

You will need to book via the website for a table indoors, outdoor tables are first come and you can buy takeaway drinks and food from the hatch.

Rassasy is a delicatessen and farm shop selling fresh organic fruit and veg (you can order a fruit & veg box for delivery to your door), home made savoury and salad items, cheeses and freshly baked bread. They also have a fresh fish counter, oils, pastas, nibbles and a cake stand thats too good to walk past.

The Snug allows you to sit inside in the cosy bar with mediterranean vibes, or outside in the sunshine and order a meal from their gorgeous deli counter without having to lift a finger. 

No need to book, just turn up, but you can order hampers and food boxes for collection or delivery.

The Orange Tree is a cafe by day, serving breakfast, lunch, coffees and cakes, and a bar by night. There are often live singing and comedy performances and at weekends, they have visiting food trucks park up outside so that you can eat a different cuisine every weekend whilst enjoying your favourite tipple.

There are some outdoor tables as well as plenty of space inside but if you are planning a weekend evening visit or to attend one of the special events, you will want to book - give them a call or message on facebook

Shapla is a beautifully decorated, cosy little Indian restaurant where you take your own booze to enjoy with your meal. The tastes are delicate and authentic, and the choice of dishes is vast.

Booking definitely required for a table.

Andalucia is a very popular Spanish restaurant which we are so lucky to have in Ferring.  It is decorated beautifully and stylishly with a modern Spain feel and a huge old olive tree as the centrepiece in the restaurant. 

The tapas are exceptional and the cocktails are incredible. 

At the front of the restaurant is a bar where you can enjoy food or drinks in a slightly more casual environment. 

Booking definitely required - especially for Friday / Saturday evenings

Just a short walk up Ocean Drive, at the Pantiles, you will find Colmers where the quality and taste of the organic meat is superb. 

You can also buy pies, sausage rolls and cheese straws from the counter.

Phone and order or just turn up - open Tuesday to Friday and Saturday mornings

The kebab house serves kebabs, burgers, pizzas and deserts (including a very good baklava !) The meat is clean and well cooked and their halloumi kebabs are a great vegetarian alternative.

It's quick, its easy, its really tasty, what's not to love ! Perfect for the end of a busy day when you just want to watch TV in your pyjamas with a glass of wine and some good food. 

They don't deliver but you can order on the website for a specific time and pick it up.

South Ferring's newest addition to the cafe / micro pub scene - The Little Tipple opened Christmas 2023 and is just a short stroll up Ocean Drive, to Ocean Parade. Open for drinks lunchtime to evening

Kendricks is on Ocean Parade, a few minutes walk from the cottage. As well as being lovely people with oodles of coffee knowledge, they sell a huge selection of artisan coffee, teas and hot chocolate and will deliver for free if your order is over £20. 

You can buy a drink to take away - perhaps to enjoy while you wander home, and you can order freshly baked bread and pastries to collect in the shop on Friday mornings (get your order in by Thursday morning).

For a celebration or just a spot of decadence, how about hiring Chef Katherine, a Ferring resident and Masterchef finalist, to be your private chef? Chef Katherine can offer a variety of menus for Dinner parties and Sunday roasts and will bring everything to you at Ocean Cottage (as well as take away all the washing up!)
